How to start a Career in Care

A career in care can be hugely rewarding. You get to make a direct difference to someone’s life and no two days are the same.

If you have a passion for care and you’d like to start a career in care but don’t have the experience we require then this page should help point you in the right directions to a Career in Care.

The Department of Health & Social Care have recently launched their Every Day is Different Campaign and their website is packed full of useful information, quizzes and personal experiences to give you a better insight into a career in care. There is also a jobs page so you can search for jobs in your local area.

There are plenty of care homes who will offer on the job training and don’t require any previous experience, so either apply through the website above or contact some of your local homes direct and ask if they are recruiting.

If you are unemployed, speak to your local jobcentre as they may be running the Care Sector Routeway, which is a six week programme for people who are unemployed and it gives you the opportunity to gain a qualification and work experience, develop your core skills and gives a guaranteed job interview at the end of the programme.

Good luck and please remember us in the future, should you gain the experience that we seek!
