Karen Chitsungo - Care Assistant - Walsall

Tuesday, April 9, 2019

This month, we have been chatting with Karen Chitsungo, a care assistant working with our Walsall branch.

Karen has worked in care for over five years. She joined Cream in August 2018, as she wanted flexible on going work around her other commitments. Karen had previously worked in a number of care settings including Residential Care and Nursing homes.

Karen is a very pleasant and friendly staff member, who is a joy to work with. She is very reliable and we have received excellent feedback from all care homes Karen has worked at.

We wanted to find out why Karen chose a career in care and what she thinks about working for Cream Health Care.

“Initially it was an area of work I was interested in because shift patterns suited me, and I thought it would be something I’d be good at. I like hands on physical work and I really like to keep myself busy. Working in care suits me as each day is never the same and the work keeps me on my toes.”

“It’s great working for Cream. I love the homes that I’m sent to work at. I’m always given a choice of a variety of shifts to work. I’m able to take the work when I’m available. I feel supported by the branch. Jo and Vicky are great, I always feel listened to when I call or pop into the branch and they are very helpful and supportive.”

“The hours suit me as I’m able to take shifts around my other commitments. I really love working at Bracken House. The home is so friendly, the staff there are great as well as the service users. I’m treated like one of the team and not just an agency member of staff. I also like that the home is very busy during a night shift, which makes for a very interesting a varied shift.”
