Kat Underwood - Care Assistant - Walsall

Monday, March 12, 2018

This month, Dave has been chatting with Kat Underwood, a care assistant working with our Walsall branch.

Kat is an experienced, dedicated care worker, who has been working in the Health & Social Sector since 2016.  Kat cares from the heart and in her words ’My goal is to always make someone smile before I leave my shift’ and she always does! Kat is always flexible and she regularly puts herself out to help Cream, and the services she supplies to; at the last minute. Kat calls herself Cream’s best Canadian worker and she certainly is!

Thank you Kat for your continued support and for always making us smile, as well as the service users that you care for!

Dave wanted to know why Kat chose to have a career in care and what she thinks about working for Cream Health Care.

What got you into care?

At the time I needed a job and that is all it was meant to be, but then it turned into a real passion that I now love.

How long have you been working for us?

I have worked for Cream Health Care for 6 months

What’s it like to work for Cream?

Absolutely wonderful - I can pick my shifts when I want to work, and I don’t have to worry about booking my time off. If I say to the office that I can’t work on the specific day the office don’t bother me with shifts for that day.

Do you feel like you are supported by the branch?

The support I get from both Dave and Vicky is wonderful.

Do your hours suit you?

Yes they do, my availability varies from week to week. Sometimes I can do earlies, sometimes lates and sometimes nights. Dave and Vicky always try to get me the shifts I am free for.

You’ve been working for us for 6 months, can you remember what the interview process was like?

It was relatively easy and the paperwork was easy to follow. The worst part was finding the Cannock office - thank god you have moved to Walsall!

Do you have any specialities, passions or favourite care homes? Does Cream try to place you at care homes where they know you enjoy?

I love working at Meadowyrthe. I wouldn’t say I have specialities but I am keen to learn more about dementia care as I have a passion for helping residents with dementia.

Also being Canadian I can now make a good ‘cuppa’ which is important to the residents!

Do you have a passion for care? Do you put dignity and respect at the heart of everything that you do? Do you have six months experience in care work?

If you do, then please get in touch. You can call our Walsall branch on 01922 641989 or apply for a job through our website’s jobs page.
