Katie Walker – Care Assistant – Walsall Branch

Tuesday, August 7, 2018

This month, Jo has been chatting with Katie Walker, a Care Assistant working with our Walsall branch.

Katie is currently studying an adult nursing course at Staffordshire University. She joined Cream just over 10 months ago and has been a member of staff we can always rely on. She is a very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and conscientious, with a friendly outgoing personality. In Katie’s words “I enjoy working with people and being able to make a difference, offering quality care and support.” Katie is a valued member of staff and we hope she will continue to enjoy being part of the ‘Cream Team’.

Jo wanted to know why Katie chose to have a career in care and what she thinks about working for Cream Health Care.

What got you into care?

My Mom is a nurse and I had a year out from finishing 6th form to decide what I wanted to study at University. It seemed natural for me to get into care work from there onwards.

What’s it like to work for Cream?

Good, I like the flexibility of the work that fits around my studies

Do you feel like you are supported by the branch?

Yes, very much so….I feel the staff are very approachable and questions/queries answered quickly.

Do your hours suit you?

Yes as I can pick up shifts as and when I want to.

Do you have any specialities, passions or favourite care homes? Does Cream try to place you at care homes where they know you enjoy?

I particularly enjoy working at Limewood but I have enjoyed everywhere I have worked too.

Do you have a passion for care? Do you put dignity and respect at the heart of everything that you do?

If you do, then please get in touch. You can call our Walsall branch on 01922 641989 or apply for a care job through our website’s jobs page.
