This month, Vicky has been chatting with Tammy Wood, a support worker working with our Walsall branch.
Tammy Wood began working with us at the beginning of January and has already proven that she is an asset to Cream Health Care. Tammy works at a variety of care, support and day care services for us, and has proved to be a very reliable, diligent, caring and enthusiastic member of staff. Tammy has joined us with a years’ experience working in the care sector. Tammy has cared for elderly people with various care needs including dementia and Parkinson’s. Tammy is a very knowledgeable, compassionate and caring person, who strives to provide excellent care and support to those who she cares for.
Vicky wanted to know why Tammy chose to have a career in care and what she thinks about working for Cream Health Care.
What got you into care?
I always wanted to work in the care sector since I was a child. When I was growing up we had elderly neighbours and I used to really enjoy visiting them and making a difference to their day, keeping them company and listening to their stories. As soon as I was old enough to work in care, I started looking for a care job, got one and never looked back.
What’s it like to work for Cream?
It’s great, I really enjoy working for Cream. I enjoy the variety of care homes that I am able to work at, which keeps things interesting.
Do you feel like you are supported by the branch?
Yes I’m definitely supported by the branch and on call. Whenever I have a problem or need help with my work and work schedule, I am able to contact the office and I know that I’ll be supported.
Do your hours suit you?
The hours suit me, as I’m able to pick and choose shifts around my child care needs. I have so far taken a variety of shifts from earlies, late and night shifts. It’s great as my family and I are able to plan.
Do you have any specialities, passions or favourite care homes? Does Cream try to place you at care homes where they know you enjoy?
I really enjoy working at Meadowythe. The staff there are friendly, welcoming and I really enjoy caring for and supporting the residents. I feel that my specialities are that I am a passionate carer and I love to listen to people and help them.
Do you have a passion for care? Do you put dignity and respect at the heart of everything that you do? Do you have six months experience in care work?
