Are you an EU Citizen wishing to stay in the UK after the UK leaves the EU?

Monday, March 25, 2019

If you’re an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen, you and your family will be able to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme to continue living in the UK after 30 June 2021. If your application is successful, you’ll get either settled or pre-settled status, depending on your circumstances. The EEA includes the EU countries and also Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.

Settled and pre-settled status for EU citizens and their families enables EU citizens to protect the rights they currently have in the UK. Applicants will only need to prove their identity, demonstrate their UK residence, and declare any criminal convictions.

Deal or no deal, EU citizens will have until at least 31 December 2020 to apply (although if the UK leaves the EU without a deal, you will need to be living in the UK by 29th March 2019 to apply.).

The EU Settlement Scheme will open fully on Saturday - 30th March 2019 and you can find further information about the scheme here: https://www.gov.uk/settled-status-eu-citizens-families?step-by-step-nav=0c79b832-75de-4854-8154-d62774a8dfb8
