£600 million over the next two years will boost the capacity of the social care workforce and funding for the social care sector

The government has today unveiled a £600 million package to help with recruitment and retention in social care. The fund will support the social care workforce and boost capacity in social care, in turn supporting the NHS ahead of winter and through into next year.

This is the third set of data released from the Government and it shows that the number of care homes in the West Midlands reporting a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 each week are fewer than the weeks last month.

    The government now releases weekly data showing the weekly number and percentage of care homes reporting a suspected or confirmed outbreak of COVID-19 to PHE by local authorities, regions and PHE centres. This is the second set of data released from the government and it does appear that the number of care homes in the West Midlands reporting a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 is now falling in most local authority areas of the West Midlands.
